WWE Backstage is returning again, with no mention of CM Punk

WWE Backstage was canceled as a regular program on Fox Sports last June, with the caveat that it might occasionally return with one-off episodes.

One of those returns occurred last October when SmackDown was bumped to Fox Sports due to the World Series.

With Royal Rumble 2021 coming up on Jan. 31, WWE Backstage is returning for another one-off episode that weekend. Here is WWE’s hype for the show:

“WWE Backstage is back in a big way for an upcoming Royal Rumble Special on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 8/7 C on FS1.

Renee Paquette, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and Paige will host the preview for one of sports entertainment’s most exciting nights.

Friday Night will get the action-packed weekend on FOX, as the Royal Rumble approaches, and Roman Reigns prepares for a Universal Title showdown with Kevin Owens.”

The hosts for this one-off episode of WWE Backstage don’t include CM Punk, who had multiple appearances on the original format of the program.

But hey, at least we’re getting more Renee Paquette and Paige!
