Let’s just watch the 1992 Royal Rumble

We’re getting closer to this year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV), scheduled for Sun., Jan. 31, 2021, at the ThunderDome in St. Petersburg, Florida, where we’ll get two more Royal Rumble matches. That means WWE has been spending time looking back at older Royal Rumble match and arguably the very best of them is the masterpiece put together all the way back in 1992.

It was only the fifth Royal Rumble match in history but I’ll be damned if they didn’t hit an absolute home run from start to finish. Ric Flair entered at number 3 and put together a legendary performance that one could argue is still the best we’ve ever seen in this type of match.

Here’s a clip of Flair talking about it with Stone Cold Steve Austin:

Flair became champion by winning the match, and then went backstage and cut one of the most memorable promos of all time.

We can only hope either of the Royal Rumble matches this year are anywhere near this level.
