MLW Roundup: Savio Vega strap match, Laredo Kid title fight, more!
Let’s catch up on the latest news in MLW and preview tonight’s episode of Fusion. Savio Vega will settle his Caribbean Championship beef with Richard Holliday and Laredo Kid will defend the AAA Cruiserweight Championship on MLW programming.
Strap match on Fusion
Savio Vega is in a strap match tonight on MLW Fusion. No, you didn’t read that wrong. No, it isn’t an old replay. Savio Vega will be strapping Richard Holliday in 2021 with the Caribbean Championship on the line, and it should be glorious.
Holliday is the self-crowned IWA Caribbean Champion due to pilfering the belt from Vega. The gold will be up for grabs with violence guaranteed to break out. Vega is bringing the same strap that he used against Steve Austin in 1996. The winner of this bout will have to touch all four corners for victory.
Laredo Kid has a desire for champion versus champion fights. He has his eye on MLW World Middleweight Champion Lio Rush, but, first, Laredo will compete against South American double champion Zenshi. Laredo’s AAA Cruiserweight Championship will officially be up for grabs. Zenshi may be coming in off a losing streak in MLW, however, rest assured that he has the skills to make a memorable match with Laredo.
If two title fights weren’t enough, MLW is also delivering a match between TJP & Bu Ku Dao versus Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku to determine the next tag title challenger. The winners will wrestler Los Parks on a future date.
The official preview also mentions Tom Lawlor speaking about the allegations of attacking ACH, Myron Reed with a challenge for the Contra Unit, Los Parks sending a message to the tag division, and more.
Share your match predictions in the comments. How many hits from the strap do you think Savio Vega and Richard Holliday will each take?

An intriguing new account has popped up on Twitter. Azteca Underground (@AZTECALucha) is now live on social media. That organization is the new parent company of Promociones Dorado. It put over Los Parks as tag champs, Salina de la Renta as the new servant, Mil Muertes as a necessary evil, and Konnan as a dumbass. The most tantalizing tease was this image of a makeshift shack, which is reminiscent of a Dario Cueto’s office in the Temple from Lucha Underground.

Salina de la Renta finally sat down for an interview (here) with Alicia Atout on Atout’s AMBY website. It was basically 14 minutes of bickering. Salina also filed a compliant with MLW’s human resources.
Alicia is creating a toxic workplace. She has tried to publicly shame me on social media and hurt my career, my brand and reputation which I have worked hard to make so positive. I fear Alicia’s attacks on social media could harm my work with orphanages. To be targeted by a foreigner (she is CANADIAN) in such a hostile way has given me immense grief.
I can no longer accept being a victim, which is why I have formally filed a complaint against this pendeja.

Filthy Island may be in financial trouble. Sponsors have pulled out after Tom Lawlor’s screwjob to the Von Erichs as referee for their tag title loss to Los Parks. Lawlor is also getting heat about the attack on ACH, even though, concrete proof has yet to be presented implicating Lawlor. You may need to support Team Filthy through the purchase of the new Violence is Forever t-shirt.

The Von Erichs have officially declared that they seek to settle business with Team Filthy before using their rematch for the tag titles. Kevin Von Erich gave them sage wisdom about channeling their anger productively. Watching the Von Erichs on their Hawaiian ranch is like watching the Cartwright family in Bonanza.
Josef Samael explained his methodology in creating sports terrorism with Contra Unit.
When they studied acrobatics, I studied The Art of War.
When they performed in an ostentatiously sensational manner, I combined Machiavellianism and violence to secure victory. Not only am I the most intelligent player in the game, but I am also the INVENTOR OF SPORTS TERRORISM! pic.twitter.com/6ZFnoKxCiU

We’ll close with a photo of Salina de la Renta’s motley crew that made me chuckle. Imagine opening the door as host of a dinner party and you see these ruffians.
