Brisco was furloughed earlier this year by WWE, and this tweet confirms that he has now been released after spending 36 years with the company.
PW Insider has followed up on this news with the following note:
“PWInsider.com is told by several sources that the departure of WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco is part of another round of financial cutbacks for the company.
We are currently working to confirm how widespread the cutbacks will be and whether any talents will be released. It may be a case of the company opting now to bring back those furloughed, but we have yet to confirm that.”
WWE made a large round of profit-ensuring roster cuts in April during the early portion of the coronavirus pandemic, and it sounds like more financial cutbacks could be on the way. AOP was released last week, and now Brisco is also released.
We’ll keep you updated on any further developments with this story.
