The NWA champ continues to breathe life into AEW‘s women’s division. 

All Elite Wrestling comes our way live from Jacksonville, Florida. Last week, Jericho & MJF lied to each other’s faces, Eddie Kingston reminded us that he was technically never eliminated from the battle royale, Matt Hardy apologized for taking years off his life (and ours), Jericho (and Hager) focus on the tag team titles while Omega takes his focus off them, Vicki and Nyla are back and ready to dominate, Hangman Page has a sad and Miro debuted!

This Week’s Headliner:

Thunder Rosa, The NWA Women’s Champion, made headlines when she was announced as The AEW Women’s Championship challenger at All Out. She made even more headlines when her and Hikaru Shida stole the show in what many considered to be Match of the Night.

Many speculated about her status with AEW after that match, considering that she is signed to another company. Thankfully, it appears that NWA and AEW have come to some kind of mutually beneficial agreement allowing her to continue to appear on Dynamite. THANK THE GODS. AEW’s women’s division has been struggling for an entire year, and Thunder Rosa brings a much needed dynamic shift. She’s a fantastic wrestler, makes everyone she is in the ring with look good, and it seems like the AEW writers don’t hit whatever massive writer’s block they get when writing for their own champion with her. Is she likely to lose her championship to Ivellise in an AEW ring? No. But could her repeated presence on AEW be the catalyst for a continued feud with Shida? Absolutely. Or better yet, maybe her presence inspires Shida (and the writers) to start building up their own division. After all, they can’t have NWA show them up every week.

The Title Scene:

The AEW Championship will be defended on October 14, aka AEW Dynamite’s one year anniversary. The challenger, Lance Archer, will face the champion, Jon Moxley, in what is sure to be a brutal and violent match-up. Right now, it’s just a question of whether or not they will be able to keep their hands off each other for a whole month. Plus, there’s that pesky “Eddie Kingston was never legally eliminated from the Battle Royale” problem to deal with. Eddie Kingston is a lot of things, but someone who lets things go easily is not one of them.

Private Party tries to earn a Tag Team Championship shot tonight when they face Tag champs FTR in non-title action. FTR are riding HIGH on their win at All Out and are strutting around the ring like a couple of Peacocks showing off their fancy new feathers. Unfortunately, they have managed to insult every tag team in AEW in the process. Even if Private Party doesn’t win tonight, FTR is going to be BUSY attempting to keep the vultures away.

Cody lost his TNT Championship to Mr. Brodie Lee in, frankly, and embarrassing fashion. So embarrassing that his entire Nightmare Family felt it necessary to try and defend their fallen leader. But, let’s be real here if Cody couldn’t beat Brodie Lee, Dustin didn’t stand a chance. Still, think it was nice of Mr. Kahn to give you that title opportunity, Dustin? We’re not 100% sure when Cody comes back, but he’s going to rain down a fury upon The Dark Order when he does. In the meantime, the Nightmare Family & Co. still have their hands full dealing with the sinister troupe. Plus, Brodie Lee never really dealt with that whole “Colt Cabana lost me a PPV match” problem. Time to get their Dark Order Ducks in a row.

Other Things to Keep an Eye On:

-We are FINALLY getting the parking lot match between The Best Friends and The Inner Circle that was teased literal months ago! Perhaps tonight, we will get justice for Sue!

-Chris Jericho & Jake Hager face Jurassic Express because, legally, Jurassic Express needs to be on Dynamite every single week. At least, that’s what it feels like. At least they are likely to lose to Jericho & Hager in their new quest for tag team gold.

-MJF is in action tonight. Think his new “cheerleader” Jericho will be watching?

-More Miro! Hopefully, in a crop top this time.

-It is likely we will continue to get some follow up on the ongoing Elite break-up. It is MESSY, and I am living for the drama. Thrown drinks, dramatic break-up scenes, parking lot meltdowns, drunken apology interviews, superkicks, and super fines? Amazing.
