SmackDown’s numbers crash on cable, as expected
WWE.com
Game three of the World Series bumped SmackDown out of it’s usual spot on Fox’s broadcast network last Friday (Oct. 23). The blue show ran on cable channel FS1 instead. The same thing happened in fall of 2019, so WWE and their network partner knew what to expect in terms of ratings & viewership.
SmackDown’s audience dropped to 881,000. That made it one of only five shows in the top 50 cable originals on the night to have less than a million viewers. The Hell in a Cell go home finished 15th in the cable ratings, with .25 among 18 – 49 year olds.
Over on Fox, baseball had viewership of 8.2 million and a 2.0 rating in the same demographic.
Here’s our running tracker of overnight numbers for the blue brand’s second season since signing with Fox Sports. You can still access the tab of year one numbers here (all data still via Showbuzz Daily). If you do, you’ll see 2019’s FS1 show was similarly down:
Nothing to do but brush this one off and see what happens with the new roster this upcoming Friday.
