Drew McIntyre is WWE champion once more

@WWE

When Drew McIntyre showed up on Friday Night SmackDown last week, it seemed clear there was a reason for it. After all, why build a match between McIntyre and Universal Champion Roman Reigns if they weren’t going to pay it off?

Then, every aspect of the build to his WWE championship match against Randy Orton on Monday Night Raw this week, from his getting a new look and presentation, with an incredible entrance, felt like it was designed to put him over, and that he would be going over in the match. Then the match started, Orton tried to get himself counted out to keep his title, and Adam Pearce refused to let the match end that way, restarting it with no count outs and no disqualifications.

It seemed certain at that point that McIntyre was winning the title back.

Sure enough, he put Orton through a table as payback for Hell in a Cell and then he hit a Claymore Kick to pin Randy clean in the middle of the ring. After, he told the camera that he was coming for Reigns at Survivor Series in just six days.

That should be a fun one.
