TakeOver: WarGames takes shape
The Nov. 25 edition of NXT put together several pieces of the puzzle for the brand’s next PPV, TakeOver: WarGames.
We already covered the make-up of the heel women’s team, with Toni Storm’s turn (and what appears to be a worked neck injury to Indi Hartwell) giving Candice LeRae a powerhouse group. LeRae also revealed that next week, Raquel González will face Shotzi Blackheart in a ladder match to determine which team gets the entry advantage on Sun., Dec. 6.
The make-up of Shotzi’s team hasn’t been confirmed, but if it’s not her, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley & Io Shirai, we’ll all be shocked. Candice’s crew took out all three of those women tonight. Blackheart has only appeared in pre-taped promos since LeRae destroyed her tank last month.
Our main event tonight saw Pete Dunne emerge victorious in a painful-looking affair, beating Kyle O’Reilly to give Pat McAfee’s “Kings of NXT” the entry advantage in their WarGames match against Undisputed ERA. Dunne was aided by a masked figure who definitely wasn’t McAfee (but who WWE wants us to think definitely was McAfee).
Kevin Owens helped set up a North American title Triple Threat, and General Manager William Regal also booked Cameron Grimes in a strap match with Dexter Lumis for TakeOver. We’re also headed to a Tommaso Ciampa vs. Timothy Thatcher bout at some point, but that isn’t official yet.
Here’s what’s official for Dec. 6:
– Undisputed ERA (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish) vs. Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch in WarGames; McAfee’s team has the entry advantage
– Candice LeRae, Toni Storm, Dakota Kai & Raquel González vs. Shotzi Blackheart, TBA, TBA & TBA; González faces Blackheart in a ladder match for the entry advantage next Wednesday
– Johnny Gargano vs. Leon Ruff (c) vs. Damian Priest for the North American championship
– Dexter Lumis vs. Cameron Grimes in a Strap Match
Ready to go to war with (or for) that line-up?
