The ThunderDome is under construction at Tropicana Field (Pics)
This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw will mark the final edition of WWE television to take place inside the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Starting with this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, all episodes of television moving forward will take place from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
The new ThunderDome is under construction as we speak, as passed along by Jon Alba:
A source inside Tropicana Field just passed this along: your first look at the new #WWE ThunderDome at the home of the #Rays. First show there will be this Friday, final Orlando show at Amway Center is tonight with #RAW. @MyNews13 @BN9 pic.twitter.com/GEL5HmOWou

Here is another view of the new #WWE ThunderDome setup at Tropicana Field, per a source. I’ve praised on @theLTGpodcast how good the set looks at Amway, and I imagine it will look similar here. @BN9 @MyNews13 pic.twitter.com/6O3950ol6V

WWE originally cut a deal with the Amway Center back in August, one that was set to end in November but was extended for an extra month to account for the fact that, well, the pandemic is still preventing the company from touring as it did before COVID-19 invaded our lives. There’s still no telling when things will be back to normal, so, with the Amway Center no longer a viable option considering the upcoming NBA season, Tropicana Field became the next best option.
It’s a much bigger space and offers more possibilities for what WWE can do, including actually testing out bringing some fans in. We’ll see how it progresses.
