Tonight on TNT we hear from Sting for the first time in eighteen years!

All Elite Wrestling comes our way live from Jacksonville, Florida. Last week, Orange Cassidy and MJF earned the opportunity to fight for a piece of costume jewelry, Britt Baker got a surprise visit from ThunderRosa, Chris Jericho went full Dad, an old friend visited Cody Rhodes & Darby Allin, and Jon Moxley lost the AEW Championship.

This Week’s Headliner:

Last week the TNT Champion, Darby Allin, and Cody Rhodes faced off against Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Stark. After some seamless teamwork from the bleach blondes (different than the Varsity Blondes), Allin pinned Stark. Of course, heels gonna heel, and Powerhouse Hobbs immediately started to beat the hell out of Allin. Arn got involved, then Starks got involved, then Taz got involved, then Dustin Rhodes got involved…you get the idea.

It looked like Brian Cage was going to take out the whole Nightmare Family when the lights went out, creepy music played, snow fell from the ceiling, and none other than Sting appeared. Yeah, THAT Sting.

He broke up the fight with the sheer force of his persona, individually staring each of the competitors down but lingering on Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin.

Tonight we hear from the Stinger on TNT for the first time in EIGHTEEN years. Will he be wrestling despite news of a career ending injury? Will he be a manager ala Arn Anderson and Jake the Snake? Or will he watch from the rafters and police the shenanigans?

Whatever he’s doing in Dynamite, I think it’s safe to say we’re all in.

The Title Scene:

The AEW Championship is all anyone in wrestling can talk about! Last week, Kenny Omega won the championship from Jon Moxley with a little help from his old friend and current Impact Wrestling executive, Don Callis. Instead of celebrating in the ring, the duo took off, jumped in an SUV, and said, “If you want to know what is happening, watch Impact next week.”

Then we all did. Impact Wrestling, the beloved cockroach of promotions, got its (I’m guessing) largest live watch in years because everyone wanted to hear from Omega. After an hour and fifty minutes of Impact TV, Josh Matthews sat down with Callis and Omega as they revealed parts of their master plan.

It was a great promo, and the Impact vs. AEW fantasy matches are intriguing, but just like last week’s Dynamite, the promo ended with “if you want to know more, tune into AEW.”

Tonight, we presumably get part two of the master plan promo and lots of “what the hell are you doing, Kenny?” from the roster. Hey, maybe Scott D’Amore will buy a commercial just like Tony Khan and promote Impact Wrestling even more!

LOL JK JK – Impact can’t afford that.

The AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks will defend their tag team titles tonight against TH2. TH2 has been a thorn in their side for a couple of weeks, but The Bucks have that “new champion” energy still and there is no way TH2 is taking this one. It will, however, be one hell of a match! High flying nonsense and trash talk – just what we want from our tag team wrestling!

Overall, The Bucks have been doing a great job in the few short weeks they have held championship gold. They are fighting new teams every week and elevating the division. Case in point, new arrivals The Acclaimed got a little spotlight promo with The Bucks last week, and although it was painfully 2001 (bad “freestyle” rapping), new blood is always exciting. Perhaps, we’ll hear from them again tonight! Just hopefully, without the rhymes.

Two weeks ago, the AEW Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida’s winning celebration was cut short when Abadon crawled out of hell. Hikaru, terrified, dropped her championship and scrambled out of the way, allowing Abadon to drool blood on it. Presumably, that means “I want a title shot” in demon. Last, week Shida said she wasn’t afraid of her challenger, but her body language and the way she road-runnered out of the interview when she heard a spooky noise suggested otherwise. Tonight, Abadon will have a match with some poor soul from the roster. Will Hikaru Shida have the courage to face her afterward, or will she be cowering in the back behind Shaq?

Other Things to Keep an Eye On:

-Weeks ago, Jade Cargill interrupted a Cody Rhodes rambling promo to threaten the former TNT champion with the fury of Shaq. And then, just like with Mike Tyson, they stopped talking about it. Fortunately (or unfortunately. It depends how you look at it) tonight, Tony Schiavone will interview former NBA star and current General Auto Insurance spokesman Shaq about his intentions in AEW

-MJF and Orange Cassidy will fight for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. No, it doesn’t make sense that the battle royal winner didn’t just win the ring. Yes, this match is redundant. No, we still don’t take the ring seriously. Yes, Orange Cassidy should 100% wear it as a thumb ring if he wins.

-Since MJF joined the Inner Circle, there has been lots of tense staring, endless bickering, and school yard brawls. Dad of the Inner Circle has had ENOUGH. After his match (and the subsequent IC brawl), Chris Jericho gave his stablemates an ultimatum: Either they all get along, or the Inner Circle is OVAH. Tonight, we find out what happens.

-A few weeks ago, Lance Archer – in a supremely un-Lance Archer like move – came to the rescue of the Lucha Bros. Tonight, Lance Archer teams up with The Lucha Bros will take on Eddie Kingston and The Butcher & The Blade. Does this mean Lance Archer is a good guy now? Or is this just a “everybody hates Eddie” play?

-Dustin Rhodes faces Dark Order’s 10, because we have to occasionally justify his presence on the roster. Hopefully, we’ll get some Hangman Page lurking and drinking during the match.

-FTR takes on the Varsity Blondes (Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman, Jr.) to stay relevant.
