Paul Heyman just perfectly set up a Big E WrestleMania run
For the second time in the last three weeks, Paul Heyman just used his role as Talking Smack co-host to expertly build up a future Roman Reigns opponent.
We’re still seeing the story of Kevin Owens play out on SmackDown, and this morning Heyman explained to the world why Big E is also someone who could one day be a top star in WWE. He even seemed to sell E himself on it.
“You have to accept in your heart that The New Day will only be a footnote in the story of the greatness of Big E….
And if I may prove my case to you… when was the last time you saw Roman Reigns in the ring and anybody even bothered to mention The Shield?” #TalkingSmack pic.twitter.com/Y5aQhiWLV8

These speeches seem to not only motivate the recipient, but also the man to whom Heyman is counsel. If KO or E (and the WWE Universe) see themselves as guys who should atop the card, then Reigns sees them as a threat. The Head of the Table then has to remind them about the hierarchy in WWE.
Here, Paul is also working to convince the muscle behind The New Day that he needs to leave his Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods (all due respect) in the past. We’ll see where they’re going with that angle. But if I had the book, it would be a ploy by Heyman to try and weaken E; a ploy that would be thwarted when New Day stands by their brother – possibly by preventing their old frenemies The Usos from interfering – when he finally takes down the Tribal Chief.
No matter where Big E’s singles career heads next, Talking Smack is proving to be a great vehicle for Heyman to add layers to his role as Roman’s advisor, and to use his gift for elocution to promote more members of the blue brand’s roster.
