Last week, New Japan crowned winners in their World Tag League and Best of the Super-Juniors tournaments. On Saturday, they held their one-night Super J-Cup tourney.

Results from those shows helped fill out the cards for the promotion’s biggest event of the year, their two-night trip to the Tokyo Dome – Wrestle Kingdom. Earlier today, NJPW updated the line-ups for Jan. 4 – 5, 2021.

Additions include Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. The Great O-Khan in a singles match set-up by Khan’s attack on the 1/100 Ace’s knee at the final WTL/BOSJ show. Another grudge match will pit SANADA against his former tag partner EVIL.

The tournament winners will all be in action – one of them twice. BOSJ winner Hiromu Tanahashi will face El Phantasmo, who won the Super J-Sup for the second year in a row by defeating ACH, on night one. The winner of that match will face IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Taiji Ishimori on night two.

World Tag League winners Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) challenge for the IWGP Tag titles against Dangerous Tekkers (Sabre, Jr. & Taichi) on the first night of Wrestle Kingdom. Another title match that stems from the tag tournament is NEVER Openweight champ Shingo Takagi against Jeff Cobb, who pinned him during WTL.

Here’s a look at what’s announced for Wrestle Kingdom 15:

January 4:

– Tetsuya Naito (c) vs. Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Heavyweight & Intercontinental championships

– Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay

– Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Great O-Khan

– Guerillas of Destiny vs. Dangerous Tekkers (c) for the IWGP Tag Team titles

– Hiromu Takahashi vs. El Phantasmo

January 5:

– SANADA vs. EVIL

– Shingo Takagi (c) vs. Jeff Cobb for the NEVER Openweight title

– Winner of night one’s Hiromu/ELP match vs. Taiji Ishimori (c) for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight championship

Sound like a good way to start the year?
