NXT’s New Year’s Evil card takes shape
In addition to setting up the main event, the Dec. 16 edition of NXT officially announced a host and one other match for their next themed episode, Jan. 6, 2021’s New Year’s Evil. The last match on tonight’s show certainly seemed to pave the way for a third match, too.
The host will be Dexter Lumis, a character that hasn’t spoken in WWE, so that should be interesting. Even the reveal of his role for the first show of next year was done via caricature.

The other official match is no surprise, seeing as Damian Priest mouthed off to Scarlett last week and was attacked by Karrion Kross for it. Kross called out Priest after his squash match this week, and their bout was announced moments later.

The black-and-gold brand’s been building toward another Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel González slobberknocker since the first one at Halloween Havoc. And after González attacked the Nightmare and cost her her match with Toni Storm tonight, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the rematch at New Year’s Evil.

We’ve also got Leon Ruff and Shotzi Blackheart having separate issues with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae’s The Way stable which could hit the NYE card a few different ways. And continuing Timothy Thatcher/Tommaso Ciampa and Swerve Scott/Jake Atlas programs.
Lots of options for Triple H and team to book for Jan. 6, en route to their rematch of TakeOver 31’s classic Finn Bálor/Kyle O’Reilly bout.
Let us know what you think of the things they’ve announced, as well as their other options, in the comments below.
