Will Los Ingobernables add a new member at ROH Final Battle?

ROHWrestling.com

ROH is holding their biggest show of the year tonight (Dec. 18, 2020). Let’s break down the Final Battle lineup.

ROH World Championship: Rush (c) vs Brody King

This will be Rush’s first match back with ROH since the pandemic. King is in peak form after impressive victories over Dalton Castle and Shane Taylor to earn a title shot. The match should be very physical and very aggressive. Neither man is the type to back down from confrontation.

To add a little mystery on the evening, Rush has teased a surprise member of Los Ingobernables.

The rough translation is:

After so much lockdown, I return with everything to defend my ROH championship and to make it very clear that the faction Ingobernable is the past, present, and future.

The idea of adding another member to join Rush, Dragon Lee, and Kenny King has only come from Rush himself. There have been no teases on ROH programming to give us any hints. That means plans could change, and there is no guarantee that Rush’s posse will expand. However, we’re wrestling fans, and we all know that won’t stop us from the fun of speculating.

It makes sense a fourth member of Los Ingobernables would emerge, since they seem to be on a collision course with the new Foundation faction. The Foundation has four members in Jonathan Gresham, Jay Lethal, Tracy Williams, and Rhett Titus. Los Ingobernables would need one more person to even the odds.

The most likely candidates would be Rey Horus, Flamita, Bandido, or Flip Gordon. The three luchadores would make sense with the lucha libre connection. Gordon has wrestled on CMLL shows, so a background story could be crafted there. My pick for wacky surprise is Marco Corleone (aka Mark Jindrak). Corleone was a mega star in Mexico, and he has Ingobernable history as a member from November 2014 to February 2016. There have been no rumors to suggest Corleone could be a possibility, but I think he would be a very interesting choice.

Pure Championship: Jonathan Gresham (c) vs Flip Gordon

Gresham won the Pure title through a grueling tournament. Gordon was granted the shot after ROH agreed with his complaint of being left out of the tournament. Gordon should be the favorite to win due to one reason in particular. It will be Gresham’s second match of the evening. He also has to defend the tag titles.

ROH World Tag Team Championship: Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham (c) vs Mark Briscoe & PCO

Briscoe is cashing in his rematch clause after Lethal and Gresham won the tag belts off the Briscoe Brothers. Mark wanted to team with his brother, but Jay was more concerned with teaching a lesson to EC3. Mark was left in a quandary.

That led Mark to choosing a new partner in PCO.

ROH World Television Championship: Dragon Lee (c) vs TBD

Dragon Lee will defend against the winner of the next bout on the list…

Josh Woods vs Dak Draper vs LSG vs Tony Deppen

The winner of this Four Corner Survival match will earn a TV title shot for later in the evening. I’d rank the order of favorites as Woods, Draper, Deppen, then LSG.

Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs Vincent & Bateman

Vincent turned to the dark side when turning on former pal Taven to shatter his ankle. Upon Taven’s recovery, he was out for blood. Bennett made a surprise return to even the odds and reunite with his Kingdom mate.

Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus vs Fred Yehi & Wheeler Yuta

The catch for this bout is Pure rules. It will be the first Pure tag contest in ROH.

  • A legal tag requires the wrestler on the apron to reach over the top rope and tag his partner hand-to-hand while holding the tag rope with his other hand.
  • Each wrestler has five seconds to exit the ring after a tag is made.
  • Each time a team breaks up a pinfall or submission, that team will lose a rope break. Breaking up a pinfall or submission when a team is out of rope breaks will result in a disqualification.

Danhausen vs Brian Johnson

Danhausen was signed to an ROH contract. To make it valid, he must win a match during 2020. This is basically Danhasuen’s one and only chance. Johnson takes issue with Danhausen being a weirdo.

Unfortunately, COVID precautions forced the cancellation of EC3 versus Jay Briscoe and MexiSquad vs Shane Taylor & SOS for the ROH trios titles after EC3, Bandido, and Flamita were removed from the card due results of pre-travel testing. Kenny King is also on the cancellation list with those three.

Fortunately, all four men appear to be doing well in health. In the case of Bandido, it is believed antibodies from a previous COVID infection caused issues with his test. He is currently scheduled to compete against Volador Jr. for the NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship at CMLL’s Christmas show.

The four-hour Final Battle event kicks off tonight at 8 pm ET. The first hour features the Four Corner Survival match and will air for free on ROH’s YouTube and Facebook platforms. The PPV at 9 pm ET is available for purchase through HonorClub and Fite TV.

Get in the mood for Final Battle with The Honor List. ROH has countdowns for the 10 greatest matches and the 10 greatest moments in Final Battle history.

Which match are you most looking forward to? Which match will steal the show? Who would you choose to be the newest member of Los Ingobernables?
