You already know who WWE’s inducting into their Hall of Fame this year

Because it’s reportedly the folks who were announced last year but never got a ceremony due to the pandemic.

When coronavirus lockdowns forced WrestleMania 36 to be moved to the Performance Center and turned into a two-night, no-fans affair, all the ancillary events WWE had planned were nixed.

That meant no Axxess, no NXT TakeOver, and no Hall of Fame Ceremony.

The inductees for the 2020 Hall class had already been announced. For a while there were rumors the company would try to honor them at SummerSlam or another big show. But as it became clear COVID would prevent any shows with crowds this year, those rumors went away.

Now we’re months away from WrestleMania 37… and we still don’t really know when shows with anything more than a handful of people in attendance will take place. We’ve got a few vaccines for the virus, but are in the very early stages of rolling those out. It’ll be a while yet before younger, non-frontline workers will get their shots, and there’s no telling how confident people will be to resume pre-pandemic life even once that happens.

With so much still unknown, it sounds like WWE’s decided to not make the 2020 Hall of Fame class wait much longer to get their flowers. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Batista, the nWo quartet of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash & Sean Waltman, The Bella Twins, JBL, British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith and Jushin “Thunder” Liger will be inducted this year.

The belief is the ceremony will still happen around ‘Mania – when and wherever that takes place (it’s still officially listed for March 28, 2021 in Inglewood, California, but we’ve heard talk of moving it to Tampa and early April). WWE is prepared to do it virtually, but the report didn’t have details on if that meant having it in the ThunderDome or some other set-up.

With the alternative possibly being to wait until 2022, this sounds like a logical plan.

Thoughts?
