Daniel Bryan is the first wrestler to declare for the 2021 men’s Royal Rumble

That’s right, folks, it’s officially Royal Rumble season and on the first episode of Friday Night SmackDown following the last pay-per-view of the year, we have the first wrestler to declare for the men’s Royal Rumble match:

There were rumors that Bryan could be challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal championship at that show, but that won’t be happening after all. It looks like Reigns will need a new challenger after he defeated Kevin Owens for the second time this week, but it won’t be Bryan.

At least not yet.

It could very well be if Bryan wins the Royal Rumble. That’s what happened with last year’s winner, Drew McIntyre, who went on to defeat Brock Lesnar to win the WWE championship at WrestleMania 36.

The Royal Rumble is scheduled to take place on Sun., Jan. 31, 2021, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. It’s unclear if fans will be allowed at this time.
