Reigns is still Universal champion after a fun steel cage match with Owens
Although Roman Reigns beat Kevin Owens in their Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at TLC this past weekend, the challenger was given yet another chance to win the Universal championship in a rematch on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Only this time, it was in a steel cage match.
The two kicked off the show with said match and, much like at TLC, they put together a physical back-and-forth slugfest that featured a couple of deeply satisfying false finishes.

Still, it never really felt like Owens was going to win. They deserve praise for doing their best to convince you it was at least possible. In the end, Reigns retained the title with help from Jey Uso, who showed up and handcuffed Owens to the cage, right next to the door. Owens was left helpless watching Reigns step over him and to the outside to retain the Universal title.
“You’re a little bitch,” he could be heard saying as Reigns took that final step down the stairs, securing the win.
That’s two straight losses in championship matches for Owens, who is likely moving out of the title picture after this.
