Matt Hardy leads Private Party to Impact to become top contenders

Kenny Omega isn’t the lone AEW star to cross over to Impact anymore. Add Matt Hardy and Private Party to the list.

It began with Hardy and Private Party posting an announcement that they would be appearing on tonight’s Impact Wrestling (Jan. 19, 2021).

Their business revolved around the Impact World Tag Team Championship. Chris Sabin brought in James Storm to declare themselves #1 contender to the Good Brothers, and that’s when Hardy and Private Party popped up.

Hardy was looking to book Private Party in a warm-up match, so he could earn a 260% payday. Hardy wanted to jump the line for a title shot against the Good Brothers. Instead, that led to a bout against Sabin & Storm in the main event to earn a tag team championship opportunity. Interesting to note, Hardy did not allow Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy to speak.

Also of note, Tony Khan returned with another paid commercial. He was with Jerry Lynn in the Impact Zone. Khan asked Hardy to go to Impact as an answer to Don Callis’ shenanigans. He wanted Hardy to out-carny Impact.

Khan and Lynn actually appeared ringside to scout the main event.

In that match, Private Party was victorious via Gin and Juice. Hardy provided a referee distraction so Lynn could grab Sabin’s foot in setting up the finishing maneuver.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows applauded Private Party’s efforts. The Good Brothers entered the ring for a staredown, then the show concluded with a brawl between all three teams.

There has been no announcement yet for a date to the big fight between Private Party and the Good Brothers for Impact tag team gold.

As for Kenny Omega and Don Callis, they will be taking a hiatus from Impact to take care of business in AEW.

That plan fits with the upcoming PPV schedule of AEW’s Revolution on February 27 and Impact’s Rebellion on April 24.

What’s your take on AEW’s next chapter with Impact? Do you like Private Party getting the call to perform on Impact Wrestling?
