Undertaker says it’s time for him to rest in peace
After Roman Reigns & Drew McIntyre tore the house down, Survivor Series changed gears and focused on the attraction which dominated WWE’s promotion for the Sun., Nov. 22 PPV…. Undertaker’s “Final Farewell”.
Before the man who debuted at Survivor Series 1990 came out to say goodbye, a parade of legends entered to celebrate him: Shane McMahon, The Big Show, JBL, Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley, The Godfather, The Godwins, Savio Vega, Rikishi, Kevin Nash, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Triple H, and Kane.

With the Phenom’s friends and rivals assembled, we were treated to a video package celebrating his 30 year career, set to Metallica’s “Now That We’re Dead”. Some of the men in the ring were interviewed in the package, and Batista, John Cena, and Stone Cold Steve Austin joined to speak on Taker’s unparalleled legacy.
When we returned to ThunderDome, Vince McMahon was alone in the ring to pay tribute to his most loyal employee. The Chairman brought out the Dead Man by saying that we often hear nothing last forever, but Undertaker’s legacy will.

An enhanced version of Taker’s iconic entrance followed. The fans were missing, but the aura remained at ThunderDome – especially when a ringside platform lifted him to the apron.

With a mic in hand, he spoke over the mix of streamed and pre-recorded fan ovation:
“For 30 long years I’ve made that slow walk to this ring and have laid people to rest time and time again. And now my time has come. My time has come to let The Undertaker rest in peace.”
He tipped his hat and struck his signature pose a hologram of Paul Bearer appeared before him.

Then he lowered his head as his signature gong sounded. The Dead Man rose as the lights brightened, did his throat slashing gesture, and walked back up the ramp. He peered over his shoulder, then flung his fist in the air as lightning filled the big screen above him. The Survivor Series logo appeared as he strode backstage, presumably for the last time.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was as fitting a goodbye as WWE could give him right now. We’ll see if it really is the end.
For now, we’ll just join in saying “Thank You Taker.”
