AEW Fallout: Omega best friends tease, AAA luchador to debut on Dark, more!

Big stories coming out of Dynamite (Jan. 6, 2021) were Snoop Dogg going Super Fly, Hikaru Shida retaining the AEW Women’s Championship against a zombie, and Kenny Omega defeating Fenix to keep his AEW World Championship then having a Bullet Club reunion. Fallout includes Omega’s plans for next week with his best friends, the bloody aftermath of Hikaru Shida’s zombie bite, as well as other goodies such as a AAA luchador debuting on Dark.

Kenny Omega and Don Callis celebrated getting the band back together with the Good Brothers and the Young Bucks. They wanted to give back next week by having Omega team with his best friends for an Elite trios match next week on Dynamite.

It is interesting that Omega nor Callis never said which pair of tag champs will be by his side. The Bucks have the AEW titles, while the Good Brothers have the Impact titles. I could see some tension next week when the Bucks assume they will be wrestling only to be replaced by the Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. After all, the Good Brothers were the ones who saved Omega from Moxley. The Bucks were nowhere to be found until after all threats to Omega had been neutralized.

It could also just be a simple case of AEW covering their bases in case Nick Jackson would be unable to compete. Rumors were reported that Nick thought he had a broken leg earlier in the evening, but it turned out to be a contusion.

Snoop Dogg explained his desire to do the flying splash as a childhood dream accomplished.

Snoop was in AEW to promote the Go-Big Show on TBS. Snoop and Cody Rhodes are two of the judges. The Wrap is reporting positive ratings as it was, “TBS’ most-watched unscripted series premiere in 3 years.” It drew 1 million viewers.

MJF shared a photo with Snoop Dogg.

Sammy Guevara shared a similar message, except he cropped out MJF from the photo.

Hikaru Shida successfully defended the AEW Women’s Championship against Abadon, but she may need some time off to recuperate from that nasty zombie bite on the neck.

Since the original TNT Championship belt was retired after being given to Brodie Lee Jr., AEW introduced the new strap during Dynamite. We never saw a clean shot on the broadcast, so here’s a backstage photo. I don’t notice much difference aside from the red belt to the black belt.

In response to a question wondering why Team Taz retreated from skinny boy Allin with a skateboard and old man Sting with a bat, Taz provided an intelligent reason.

That makes sense to me. It is consistent too with when Taz threw in the towel on Brian Cage to prevent serious injury at the hands of Jon Moxley.

CM Punk to AEW imminent?

AEW posted the lineup for Dark.

The two most competitive bouts appear to be Red Velvet versus Leva Bates and Chaos Project versus Top Flight. I’d favor Velvet and Top Flight, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the results went the other way. Bear Country is one the way up. They are the A-side against Baron Black & Nick Comoroto.

The one name that caught my eye is the debut of AAA luchador Australian Suicide. He will be using the moniker El Australiano in AEW. Australian Suicide won the Copa Triplemania in 2016 and reigned as AAA World Cruiserweight Championship for 211 days in 2018. He appeared in Lucha Underground as Vampiro’s master, Hexagon Dark. Australian Suicide has also been known to pal around with Jack Evans and Angelico, which is why LU pizza connoisseur Vinnie Massaro has a great suggestion.

Bring on the AEW trios division!

Do you think Kenny Omega being vague was for story reasons or to cover for a potential injury? Who do you think his partners will be on Dynamite?
