Still The Boss, still the SmackDown women’s champion
Carmella failed in her first shot at the SmackDown women’s championship back at TLC but thanks to her assistant, Reginald, giving Sasha Banks a match on Friday Night SmackDown, she got another crack at the crown at tonight’s (Sun,. Jan. 31, 2021) WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) event at the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Naturally, Reginald got himself involved plenty:

After he tried to get involved again later, the referee decided he had enough and sent him to the back, much to the delight of Banks. Carmella tried to take advantage and overshot a dive to the outside that could have ended really badly, but thankfully everyone seemed to come out okay.
Back in the ring, in a straight up singles match, Carmella held her own with multiple near falls and a close call with the Cone of Silence. Ultimately, though, it was Banks, almost out of nowhere, locking in the Bank Statement to secure the tap to retain her title.
